The hole is left open for the plastic push pin from the original bib.  Box knot lacing uses the same method to loosen to insert the push pin.

Standard: box knot & pin opening are 6.5" on center from the edge of the console

Extended (later models): box knot and pin opening are 7.25" on center from the edge of the console.
